The Karate Club Arc is the last arc in the Kodocha anime, and spans the final 4 episodes. It is original to the anime, though it pulls some elements from the Kazuyuki Arc.
The arc sees Akito attempt to start a karate club at Jinbou Junior High, which attracts a classmate named Shouta Nakao to join. This unintentionally leads to Nakao to question his place in the world, giving Mr. Sengoku ammunition to throw Akito under the bus.
It's likely that this arc was made in place of faithfully adapting the Kazuyuki Arc because it wasn't done being published yet (given production timeframes). Enough of it was out that they could pull elements from it, but it wasn't complete enough that they could wholly adapt it.
