Chapter 24 is the 24th chapter of Kodocha, the fourth chapter of the fifth book in the Tankōbon Release, and the second chapter of the fourth book in the Kanzenban and Bunkoban releases.
Summary[]
Fuka convinces Akito to pretend he's her boyfriend while her friends from Osaka visit.
Plot[]
Fuka explains to Akito how some friends of her's from Osaka are visiting Tokyo next weekend, and wants Akito to pretend to be her boyfriend, because she's learnt Takaishi (who is also coming) has a girlfriend, and Fuka wants to make him jealous. Fuka will repay him with free sushi through her uncle's sushi shop, and Akito agrees.
After karate practice, he tells Tsuyoshi about this arrangement, and Tsuyoshi mentions how Fuka is a lot like Sana (and assumes that maybe Fuka is also Akito's type because of this similarity). Akito insists it's not like that, but that he does find her interesting, which worries Tsuyoshi.
The weekend comes, and the plan starts off as planned. Fuka's Osakan friends are surprised to see her new "boyfriend". There's an immediate tension between Takaishi and Akito, which Akito reads as Takaishi still liking Fuka. Tsuyoshi and Aya spy on the events from a distance.
At a burger joint, it comes out that Takaishi stopped talking to Fuka last year after a rumor started that Fuka had a boyfriend. This is news to Fuka, who immediately gets angry, and clarifies the situation to everyone's shock. Fuka insists they should leave it in the past though, since they're both (supposedly) with new people now. Takaishi's new girlfriend, Shizu brings Fuka aside and explains that she's had a crush on him for a very long time, and in spite of the fact that they're "dating", not much has happened. She asks Fuka not to take Takaishi from her. Fuka reassures her she doesn't have feelings for him.
The group reconvenes to say goodbye, but Takaishi comes aside to apologize to Fuka for believing the old rumor. He's about to say he still has feelings for her, but Fuka remembers what Shizu says, and breaks things off. They have a tense goodbye, and as Akito tries to start going into an "I told you so" on being right that Takaishi still has feelings for her, Fuka starts crying. They joke around though, and Fuka admits it's obvious that Akito likes Sana. The two talk to Tsuyoshi and Aya (who they apparently knew about the whole time) and go to get sushi. As they eat, Fuka says Sana wrote her a postcard, and the group is unaware of what to do with the information that only Fuka got one (though, she clarifies that she made Sana promise to send her one). Akito looks on wistfully after being asked by Tsuyoshi if he misses her.
In the mountains, Sana wonders if Fuka got her postcard, if her mom is missing another deadline, and if Tsuyoshi and Aya are getting along. She then wonders what Akito wants to say, and rules out it being about karate since he showed her his new belt already. She then thinks about how she misses Akito, and is surprised he became such a big part of her life, before going to sleep.

Author's Notes[]
Rei's Character Profile:
Rei Sagami
He was 20 when Kodocha began
Birthday: September 23rd
Sign: Virgo
Blood type: A
"When Sana grows up, Rei may begin seeing her as a woman. Personally, I wanna develop that story line! But there'd be too many complications, so I won't. Hee-hee. Instead, he'll just continue to give Sana all the support he can."
Asako's Character Profile:
Asako Kurumi
She's the same age as Rei
Birthday: May 20th
Sign: Taurus
Blood type: A
"She's supposed to be Rei's lover. But because I never really showed their past, it doesn't seem like they really have a relationship. I wish I could write more about their story, but I'm too busy developing Sana's story."
Fuka's Character Profile:
Fuka Matsui
Birthday: December 24th
Sign: Capricorn Blood type: O
"My favorite girl with a Kansai accent. When I was in high school, I worked part-time with a girl who had a Kansai accent, and I loved her. (I even picked up her accent a bit!) She didn't see any reason to try and lose her accent in Tokyo, so I decided to make Fuka feel the same way. My producers from Kansai help me out. Thanks, Tommy! (Sorry it's not better, it's hard to make an accent come across in words!)"
