Chapter 27 is the 27th chapter of Kodocha, the second chapter of the sixth book in the Tankōbon Release, and the fifth chapter of the fourth book in the Kanzenban and Bunkoban releases.
Summary[]
Sana is so heartbroken about the news of Akito and Fuka dating she can't film. Her mom visits in an attempt to lift her spirits, and Sana accepts that she's had feelings for Akito. Naozumi confesses his own feelings for Sana, which she doesn't reciprocate.
Plot[]
In the mountains, the crew tries to continue filming Mizu no Yakata, but Sana is so in shock over hearing the news that Akito and Fuka are dating that they have to stop filming with her for the rest of the day. Everyone is worried for her. She tells Asako, Rei, and Naozumi the news that upset her so much, and they're all protective over her (to the point of Sana becoming overwhelmed). Asako shooes them out (though they eavesdrop on the following conversation through the door), and talks to Sana one on one. Asako asks if she likes Akito, and Sana initially lists logical reasons why she doesn't like him (he's not tall, he's rude, etc) but Asako tells her that she doesn't need a reason. With this, it hits Sana that she does like him, and starts crying. Naozumi leaves having heard Sana say this, and Asako and Rei discuss things as Sana tries to sleep.
The next night, Sana and Naozumi chat. She starts crying speaking to how she's having trouble going back to feeling normal, and Naozumi cries because it's heartbreaking to see Sana sad. They hug, and Naozumi confesses that he's always loved her, and that he'll always be there for her.
Separately, Director Ono tells Rei that Sana will need to participate in filming soon. Rei decides to call Misako, who shows up the next day in a helicopter. Sana's delighted to see her mom, and immediately starts telling her all her woes. Sana proposes forgetting all her problems as the solution, but her mom says she has to think on it and work it out instead. The way she does this is by drawing charts of the situation, and after a day of doing this, she wakes up feeling rejuvenated. She bumps into Naozumi playing trumpet, and tells him how she's accepted that she doesn't need a reason to like someone, and that she's accepted that she'll go on feeling this same way even if Akito doesn't feel the same. She also thanks Naozumi for the confession, but says that she doesn't have feelings for him, so he agrees to do the same for her that she's doing for Akito. Misako leaves, and Sana is able to start participating in filming again.
The final scene arrives, they're burning down the mansion, so it can only be done in one take. The plan is to have Sana be in the building, they'll start a fire, and when it reaches a certain point, a cue will happen, prompting Sana to leave the building and perform her lines.
The fire starts, and Sana is waiting for her cue. The rest of the cast, and all of the crew are tense outside. Sana feels the heat of the fire, and feels the reality of this setup settle in. Her cue goes off, and she cheerfully tries to stand up and leave the building as planned, when she falls due to pain in her injured leg. Everyone outside is confused why Sana hasn't appeared yet, meanwhile Sana inside can't stand up. The fire gets bigger by the second.
