Chapter 3 is the 3rd chapter of Deep Clear, a Kodocha spin-off manga that crosses over Kodocha, and Honey Bitter. In it, the characters of Kodocha are in their 20s.
Summary[]
Shuri continues to follow Akito around, and gets the full story on why he and Sana have been living separately. She gives these findings to Rei, who is relieved.
Plot[]
Shuri is on her third day of following Akito around, in hopes she'll secretly learn information about he and Sana's separation. She wears fake freckles as a disguise as he works his job as a karate dojo director, but loses him on his way out, wherein he confronts Shuri - having noticed her spying on him. He assumes she's a fan of Sana's, and Shuri decides to play along with his assumption since it could get him to think about Sana. This ends up working well, with Shuri being able to read Akito's mind (being able to see some of his memories: like Sana pretending to be his mom, falling asleep after the release of My Daughter and I, reuniting with Sana, and his near death experience where he met his own mom), where she can hear his worries of childbirth being a dangerous and worrying thing, and that he's convinced Sana will die. Shuri is brought to tears by the intensity of his emotions, and comes out of the exchange assured that he's not cheating on Sana.
Meeting again with Sana, she apologizes to Shuri about getting emotional at their last meeting - blaming her hormones being out of wack from the pregnancy. Sana off handedly mentions that she's living at her mom at the moment, which lets Shuri segue into asking why she's not living with her husband. Sana mentions how Akito's mom died in childbirth, so he sees it as something dangerous - in addition to his long term insistence that some punishment or bad luck is coming for him. Sana is thankful to be due soon, since it'll mean she can prove his worries wrong.
Sana adds on though that she saw Akito for the first time in awhile the day before (which Shuri assumes happened after her encounter with him), but he seemed uncomfortable by Sana's belly so they split ways again. Shuri worries for Sana not having Akito's support in this time, but Sana sounds so assured in everything that Shuri can't help but feel assured too. The two continue to have a pleasant conversation.
