Shimura (志村) is the Kurata family's maid and cook who appears regularly as a background character. She is very submissive and quiet, but she is apparently an excellent cook and fast worker.

While she usually only has a few lines per episode, she becomes more important after the Kurata family loses their first home, when they are forced to fire her. It is revealed she deeply cares about the family, and both her and the Kurata family are devastated by the matter. She is rehired when the family obtains their third home.
She occasionally advises Sana Kurata and Rei Sagami on matters, but for the most part, stays quiet.
